UK businesses hit by cyber breach or attacks in past year

A report from strongly advises businesses to better protect themselves from Cyber breaches or attacks, as nearly 7 out of 10 attacks on firms in 2016 involved viruses, spyware or malware.

The research also shows that in some cases the cost of cyber breaches and attacks to business reached millions, but the most common attacks detected involved viruses, spyware or malware that could have been prevented.

The Cyber Security Breaches Survey found that while one in four large firms experiencing a breach did so at least once a month, only half of all firms have taken any recommended actions to identify and address vulnerabilities.

So does your company really understand the danger of cyber threats and what staff should be on the lookout for?

Not all cyber-attacks involve high-end technical skills, they basically take advantage of security mistakes and human oversight. Hackers will choose the most lightly defended targets, such as computers that have not had updates installed or users that do not tend to question malicious and suspect links.

There are ways to better protect your company and we would strongly advise that you speak to a data security expert for more information.
